A documentary about the history of the model railway

IN THE CINEMA ROOM – THE HISTORY OF THE MODEL RAILWAY AND INTERVIEWS WITH ITS CREATORS

The atmosphere of Florence’s former Ariston Cinema is still palpable at the HZERO museum, especially in the room that has best preserved its spirit—the Cinema Room where the documentary about the model railway’s history is screened.

Through video testimonies and interviews with key figures—starting with the founder, Giuseppe Paternò Castello di San Giuliano—visitors can uncover the intricate details behind the model railway’s construction from its very beginnings. The documentary also highlights the remarkable logistics involved in relocating it from the hangar in Scandicci to its new home in the heart of Florence, providing a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the museum project.

The documentary, shown continuously during the museum’s opening hours, was created by Juri Ciani. The film was created with over four years of footage and serves as the perfect conclusion to the visit.

"I had no intention of starting something this big; it was just an attempt at something that I found enjoyable, and that’s how it all began!"
