For enthusiasts, December 2 is a date to mark in the calendar: in fact, it is the International Model Railway Day! Born only a few years ago in Germany, a country where the love for the world of miniature railways is stronger than elsewhere, so much so that the main manufacturers of models are mostly German, it immediately became an opportunity to celebrate this hobby throughout Europe.
This year too, the HZERO museum is joining the celebrations with a special opening designed to offer a unique experience to our passionate visitors. On Tuesday, December 2, it will be possible to enter the museum with reduced admission throughout the day. But not only that: included in the ticket is the opportunity to take part, upon reservation, in one of the guided tours led by our specialized staff to discover the behind-the-scenes of the San Giuliano layout. At 11 a.m., the tour revealing the secrets of the electronic part of the layout is scheduled, while at 3 p.m. we will delve into the scenic section. Both tours will end in the “secret room,” our control room where visitors can learn all the secrets of how it works.
To participate, just book by email at info@hzero.com. The available spots for each tour are 20, and registrations will remain open until all spots are filled.
But given the exceptional nature of this day, it will be possible to spot various surprises on the layout and enjoy a preview of the new exhibition “Rivarossi and Lima: Italian excellence in the world” in the display cases on the first floor. It is a beautiful narrative through models and locomotives starting from the 1950s of the two main Italian companies in the sector, but also featuring a collection of buildings, tracks, signals and small layouts designed and created by Rivarossi. A journey within the journey to celebrate the timeless charm of the miniature train!
